The Nissan Leaf is a minimized five-door hatchback battery electric vehicle (BEV) created by Nissan. The 2023 Nissan Leaf has upgraded vehicle design, new materials, and better wheel designs.
It was presented in Japan and the United States in December 2010. The Leaf played a vital role in the early days of EVs, but it has been overshadowed by further advanced EVs as it doesn’t offer the latest EV tech. However, it is one of the longest-running EVs offering an affordable and practical option for people wanting to drive a zero-emission vehicle.
Nissan Leaf has won various honors and acknowledgments over the years. It has won the 2010 Green Car Vision Award, the 2011 European Car of the Year, the 2011 World Car of the Year, and the 2011- 2012 Car of the Year Japan.
Appearance
The Nissan Leaf is a good-looking hatchback with the front highlighting an inclining nose towards the grille, a chrome encompasses on the grille, energetic guards with lights at the two finishes, and a smooth headlamp unit. It has an enhanced front-end appearance, with a refreshed front grille, bumper molding, and headlights that feature a new black inner finisher. The Nissan badge is now illuminated and has been updated to the brand’s new design identity. The sides have a straightforward creaseless bodyboard and alloy wheels.

Nissan Leaf is available at a starting price of $28,140 and ranges up to $36,190.
What’s New
The 2023 Nissan Leaf has received a few styling changes. It has a redesigned front grille and bumper, upgraded black inner linings for the headlights, and exterior lighting elements. It is available with a new illuminated Nissan badge. The lineup has been trimmed to just the S model and the SV Plus. It also has new interior upholstery changes and a new 17-inch wheel design for the top trim.

The Nissan Leaf is available in two trims: the base model S and the longer-range top model SV Plus.
Battery and Motor
Not only do the Nissan Leaf trims have different powertrains, they also have different batteries.
The Nissan Leaf S has a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 110 KW AC synchronous electric motor.
While the Nissan Leaf SV PLUS is equipped with a larger 60 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 160 KW AC synchronous electric motor.
Nissan Leaf is equipped with the CHAdeMO fast charging technology.

The Nissan Leaf is loaded with futuristic technology. One of its great features is the ProPilot Assist which is a single-lane self-drive feature. It allows the Nissan Leaf to follow the vehicle in front with the speed preset by the driver between 30km per hour and 100 km per hour.
It is also equipped with the ProPilot Park feature which guides the Nissan Leaf into a parking spot. The feature assists the driver with parking with the help of 12 ultrasonic sensors and four cameras around the car. The system also manages control of the steering, acceleration, braking, handling, shifting, and parking brakes.

The Nissan Leaf is one of the safest EVs and has received a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
