Tesla Cybertruck Launch
Well, the good news is we are just a few weeks from the Cybertruck release date if Tesla sticks to its given production schedule.
Tesla has recently announced that the first ever Cybertruck, yes, the one that we have all been waiting to see on roads since 2019, has arrived at Gigafactory, Texas.
The Cybertruck is Tesla’s first electric pickup truck, featuring a futuristic design with edgy designs, no curves, and a stainless steel exoskeleton.
CyberTruck Specifications
It is expected to offer three variants — single-motor RWD, dual-motor AWD and tri-motor AWD — with different battery sizes and motor configurations, ranging from 250 to 500 miles of EPA range. This chic truck can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.5 to 2.9 seconds, depending on your model. The Cybertruck will also have a self-levelling suspension, a 17-inch touchscreen, and a tonneau cover that can support a weight equal to a person’s weight. Besides, these are priced between USD 39,900 and USD 69,900.
Production Ready Model
As the Cybertruck has reached Giga, Texas, its further production will also take place in the same plant. It is Tesla’s new global headquarters and U.S. manufacturing hub for Model Y and Cybertruck. The Giga Texas covers 2,500 acres at the bank of the Colorado River and has over 10 million square feet of floor for production. The construction of the Giga Texas started in July 2020 and completed in 2023. However, the expansion of the same is still in progress.
Elon Musk announced the production of the Cybertruck to start in late 2021, but it was delayed several times due to various challenges, including, but not limited to:
- The global chip shortage
- The new 4680 battery cell development
- The construction of the Giga Texas.
But as the Giga plant was getting successfully constructed as planned in 2020 (and it was complete by 2023), as of July 2022, Tesla gave an estimate that the limited production of Cybertruck would begin in mid-2023, while the mass production would start in 2024.
Launching Date
However, in February 2023, Elon Musk stated that the Cybertruck would be available later in 2023 and that deliveries would begin by the end of Q3 2023. And this time, it seems like the CEO is keeping his promise of rolling out the initial deliveries before the 2023 year ends and has given us hopes of being close to the Cybertruck release date.
