Tesla has started to deliver its most awaited vehicle Cybertruck after many delays since its launch in 2019. With its boldly unconventional look, the Cybertruck from Tesla not only breaks the mold but also becomes an instant trendsetter with its unique and futuristic appeal. Cybertruck has one more exciting feature provided by Tesla which makes it a moving Powerhouse and that is Powershare Technology. This technology enables customers to power their home (term as V2H), workplace, outdoor activities (V2L), and also it can be used to charge other electric vehicles (V2V) in case of need.
Tesla Cybertruck can provide up to 11.5 kW real power with a nominal voltage of 240V AC for home (or V2H mode). This feature meets US safety and EMI standards. However, to use this feature Universal Wall Connector ($595) and Gateway (which manage energy flow from Solar panels, grid and costs $1800) need to be installed). Tesla has made clear no installation is required for existing customers who are already using the Powerwall and Wall Connector. V2H features in electric vehicles help the Power Grid to work under low stress because when load on grid side is more then vehicle can be used to power home.
Cybertruck has 5 outlets which can provide power up to 9.6 kW real power with 120V/240V AC. Out of 5 outlets, 4 outlets which can provide 120V and 20A current and are sourced at cabin and cargo bed. The fifth outlet has provide 240V and 40A current and is sourced at the cargo bed.
How does V2H or V2L work ?
The EV needs to be equipped with bidirectional charging hardware for the V2H or V2L feature. This includes an inverter that can convert the DC (direct current) power stored in the EV’s battery into AC power. The bidirectional charging system is integrated with the EV’s Battery Management System. The BMS monitors and manages the state of the battery, ensuring that it remains within safe operating conditions. It controls the charging and discharging processes, including the rate of power flow. Bidirectional charging systems also use communication protocols to exchange data between the EV, and external devices. This data exchange is crucial for monitoring and controlling the power flow, as well as ensuring safety.

Advantages of V2H, and V2L
- It can help the power grid to work under a stable condition. Because at peak load on the grid, Powershare technology can supply power to home or load reducing the stress on grid.
- V2L can be used to power other vehicles and electrical loads in case of emergency.
Tesla Cybertruck starts at a price of $ 60,990 for its RWD model and goes up to $ 99,990 for Cyberbeast model. Cyberbeast provides a range of up to 320 miles which can be extended to 440+ miles and has a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds.
