Kia EV5 Compact SUV
Kia Motors Corporation has taken the electric vehicle market by storm, releasing its third bespoke EV in a span of one week. The latest addition to its electrified lineup is the Kia EV5, a compact SUV concept, unveiled at the Chinese EV Day event. Following in the footsteps of the recently launched seven-seat EV9, the Kia EV5 also boasts the ‘Opposites United design ethos, which is set to shape the brand’s future offerings.
With an imminent launch in China later this year, the Concept EV5 stands as a testament to Kia’s commitment to electrification and innovation. Let us explore all the specifications of the Kia EV5.
Exterior Design
The EV5 is smaller than the EV9, but its butch-looking appearance and sleek features are heavily influenced by its larger counterpart. The EV5’s side profile boasts clean lines and minimal creases, with large, asymmetrically designed wheels positioned under black wheel arches. Its sleek, floating roof adds to the vehicle’s visual appeal.
The rear profile features a C-shaped LED taillight that spans almost the entire width of the tailgate, and a chunky skid plate is also visible. The front profile of the EV5 is similar to the EV9, with a closed panel in place of a traditional radiator grille, extremely corner-positioned LED headlamps, and a blunt nose section.
Interior Design
The cabin of the EV5 offers a lounge-like atmosphere, thanks to swiveling seats that are identical to the EV9’s. The front center console resembles a bench, with storage space ahead of the seats. Half of the dashboard is covered by a sleek, floating dashtop infotainment screen that is complemented by an octagonal steering wheel with minimal sleek buttons. The panoramic sunroof, which is claimed to function as a solar panel, adds to the futuristic vibe of the vehicle.
Performance
Kia has yet to disclose the specifications for the EV5. However, given its status as an electric vehicle, it is expected to have a long-range battery and fast-charging capabilities.
