EV Indonesia – The Indonesia International Electric Vehicle, Technology & Component Exhibition 2023
EV INDONESIA 2023 IS BACK
EV Indonesia – The Indonesia International Electric Vehicle, Technology & Component Exhibition 2023 is back. The 2nd edition which is in conjunction with INAPA 2023 – the ASEAN’s largest trade show for the automotive industry, will present the latest trends and technologies for electric vehicle ecosystems including batteries, electric power trains, components, IT systems, materials, equipment, and services.
The government officially issued regulations regarding the provision of subsidized assistance for the purchase of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles (KBLBB), namely electric motorbikes and electric cars, which starts on March 20, 2023. The incentive is intended to accelerate the KBLBB industry in the country. Meanwhile, this acceleration is in the framework of encouraging energy efficiency and security, as well as the realization of clean and environmentally friendly air quality.
The government will provide subsidy assistance for the purchase of two-wheeled electric motorbikes in the amount of IDR 7 million per unit and 200 thousand motorcycle units have been proposed by December 2023. Meanwhile, the subsidy for four-wheeled or electric cars will be given to 35,900 vehicles. The government only provides a subsidy for spending on motorbikes and cars, only valid for one-time shopping, and cannot be used twice. Incentives for buying electric vehicles aim to encourage the use of electric cars or motorcycles to be faster.
Indonesia, which has nickel with the largest number of reserves in the world, can develop electric vehicle batteries using nickel as a raw material. An increase in electric vehicles can help the country fiscally as it reduces fossil fuel subsidies. This incentive will ‘force’ electric car/motorcycle manufacturers to accelerate investment realization in Indonesia. “Fourth, as part of the global community, Indonesia can prove our commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
In addition, the President also targets the production of two million electric motorbikes in Indonesia, in line with the world’s trend toward the use of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. According to the Minister of Industry, this target is very realistic considering that there are already 35 automotive manufacturers that are ready to produce electric motorcycles with a capacity of one million units of vehicles per year and are targeted to increase to two million units by next year.
