Citroen India introduced the ICE version of its first SUV coupe, the Basalt, in August 2024, starting at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Recent sightings hint at the development of its electric variant, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Tata Curvv EV, which offers options in petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains.

As we await its official debut, here’s what we know about the upcoming Citroen Basalt EV. 

Citroen Basalt EV Distinct Design Elements 

Leaked images reveal subtle design updates, particularly at the front, that distinguish the Basalt EV from its ICE counterpart.

Expect an EV-exclusive grille, restructured front bumper, refreshed air intakes, and new alloy wheels. The charging port is strategically positioned on the left rear fender.

Aside from these adjustments, the EV model will likely retain the Basalt’s signature styling, including its sleek roofline, flush door handles, shark-fin antenna, and wraparound taillights.

Citroen Basalt EV Upgraded Interiors and Modern Amenities

Citroen is expected to keep the interior layout similar to the ICE model inside the Basalt EV, with added tech features.

Highlights might include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless mobile connectivity, automatic climate control, a wireless charger, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, promising a tech-forward experience to enhance driver and passenger comfort.

Citroen Basalt EV Battery, Range, and Performance Expectations

While official details on the battery remain undisclosed, the Basalt EV is anticipated to house a 35kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor.

One electric motor with a power output of about 100 horsepower might be connected to the battery. 

Early projections suggest an impressive range of approximately 450 km per charge, setting a competitive benchmark in its segment.

Citroen Basalt EV Expected Launch and Pricing in India

Citroen aims to launch the Basalt EV around November 2025, with an expected price range of Rs 14-17 lakh.
