400 New Electric Buses Hit Delhi Roads Under DEVi Scheme (2) (1)

Reaffirming its commitment to clean and inclusive urban transport, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta and the Hon’ble Union Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, today flagged off 400 new Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) electric buses from the Kushak Nallah Depot.

Of these 120 have been manufactured by India’s leading electric bus manufacturer- JBM Group.

These 120 buses will operate from the Ghazipur Depot and serve neighbourhoods across the capital. Equipped with an intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) these buses will offer sustainable and efficient last-mile mobility across key city routes.

This initiative is part of the ongoing expansion of Delhi’s electric mobility ecosystem, which already comprises over 2,000 electric buses currently in operation.

The introduction of these DEVI electric buses is aimed at deepening last-mile connectivity, improving commuter convenience, and strengthening the city’s progress towards sustainable and low-emission public transport.

With this JBM Auto now has over 650 electric buses deployed in the capital.

This occasion also coincides with a significant milestone for JBM Auto, as the company completes a decade in the public mobility domain. With a clear vision to transform the way cities move, JBM aims to serve over 20 billion passengers and achieve 3 billion electric kilometres within the next 3–4 years, delivering safe, reliable, and memorable mobility experiences.

The company currently holds a robust order book of over 10,000 electric buses in various stages of deployment and execution.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman, of JBM Auto, said: “Today’s launch is a reflection of how collaborative innovation between government and industry can redefine urban mobility. At JBM, we are not just manufacturing electric buses—we are building a holistic ecosystem that integrates clean energy, intelligent transport systems, and digital infrastructure.

“These DEVI electric buses are a step forward in making public transport more accessible, connected, and sustainable. As Delhi accelerates its transition to green mobility, we remain committed to delivering solutions that are not only Made in India but are truly future-ready and globally benchmarked.”

The newly launched JBM ECOLIFE electric bus is a Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) designed to reduce environmental impact significantly. Over a 10-year operational life, each bus is expected to save approximately 1,000 equivalent tons of CO₂ and 420,000 litres of diesel fuel.

To support the growing demand, JBM has established the world’s largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, located in the Delhi-NCR region, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses.

These electric buses are equipped with a suite of advanced features to enhance the passenger experience and safety:

  • Real-Time Passenger Information System for live location tracking,
  • CCTV surveillance for onboard security,
  • Stop request buttons for passenger convenience,
  • Fire Detection & Alarm Systems, and
  • Vehicle Health Monitoring Systems for Proactive Maintenance.

Drivers benefit from ergonomic dashboards designed for minimal distraction and maximum control, making the ECOLIFE a globally benchmarked, driver-centric vehicle.

With today’s launch, Delhi reaffirms its leadership in sustainable urban transport, aligning with India’s national goals for climate resilience and smart city development.
