The Ioniq 9, based on the advanced E-GMP platform, follows the success of Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.

The three-row electric SUV is scheduled for launch in South Korea and the United States by the first half of 2025, with its entry into the Indian market uncertain. Kia’s introduction of the EV9 earlier this year adds to the speculation regarding Hyundai’s plans for India.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 : Design and looks 

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 embraces a more conventional SUV aesthetic compared to its sibling, the Ioniq 5. Its boxy design and upright front fascia feature an EV-specific blanked-off grille complemented by a sleek black strip housing a connected LED light bar.

Straight-line LED headlights with pixel-shaped lighting elements replace the H-shaped motifs commonly seen in Hyundai’s ICE models. The silhouette showcases a gently sloping roofline, silver roof rails, flush door handles, and body-colored ORVMs, with the option to upgrade to digital ORVMs.

At the rear, vertically oriented LED taillights with pixel elements blend seamlessly into a high-mounted stop lamp on the boot door. A black strip stretches across the tailgate and side doors, enhancing its cohesive design.

The Ioniq 9 sits on standard 19-inch alloy wheels, with optional 20-inch or 21-inch wheels available. With a long 3,130 mm wheelbase and 620 liters of boot space (with all three rows upright), the SUV balances functionality with contemporary styling.

Spacious Interiors and Flexible Seating

The Ioniq 9 is designed with an emphasis on passenger comfort and space. Its 3,130 mm wheelbase and flat floor allow for six- and seven-seat configurations, including fully reclining options for the first and second rows.

Passengers enjoy 1,899 mm of headroom and 2,050 mm of legroom when the second and third rows are combined. The foldable third row expands the boot space to 1,323 liters, with additional storage provided by a front boot offering up to 88 liters in the rear-wheel drive variant. 

Advanced Features for Comfort and Technology

Hyundai’s Ioniq 9 integrates modern features such as a panoramic curved display, comprising a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12-inch driver display.

The BOSE premium sound system with 14 speakers and 5.1-channel surround sound enhances entertainment. Swivel seats in the second row and Dynamic Body Care System massage seats elevate comfort during long journeys.

The vehicle also includes a Universal Island 2.0 console, which adds practicality with increased storage and accessibility for front-row occupants. 

The Ioniq 9 will be the first to have a digital store where you can download different themes for your screen, or even design animations for the LED lights. 

One unique feature is that the front-row seats and the second-row seats come with all come with footrests and plenty of reliability. This will provide the users with plenty of relaxation during longer journeys or maybe when the car is charging. 

It will be available in 16 exteriors and 7 interior color options. The color options are Celadon Gray, Ionosphere Green, Sunset Brown, Cosmic Blue, Abyss Black, Serenity White, Snow White, Cyber Gray, Atlas White, Ecotronic Gray, Nocturne Gray, Gravity Gold, Ultimate Red, and Biophilic Blue.

Largest Battery and Ultra-Fast Charging

The Ioniq 9 boasts Hyundai’s largest battery pack, a 110.3 kWh unit, enabling a driving range of nearly 620 km. It supports ultra-fast charging with a 350 kW charger, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in just 24 minutes.

Advanced features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and 400V/800V multi-charging capabilities underscore Hyundai’s focus on sustainable and efficient EV solutions.

Hyundai IONIQ 9 Estimated Pricing

It is assumed that the top price of this vehicle will be under $ 75,000. Hyundai aims that all trim levels of the Ioniq 9 should qualify for the tax credits. in India, it is around Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom). 

Hyundai’s Vision for the EV Market

Hyundai plans to strengthen its position in the EV segment by introducing 23 new electric models by 2030. Having won accolades for the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, Hyundai aims to achieve similar success with the Ioniq 9.
